It happens once a year, when the Phlexx homeworld reaches perihelion. Since the planet is in an eccentric orbit, this is a very hot time of year. The inshore areas become inhospitable, even deadly. The entire Phlexx population swims out into the darkest, deepest depths, where they congregate in the deep liquid emptiness, surrounded by pure, blood-hot water for three miles in every direction.
