With all our sophisticated models of space and time, there's no concept or explanation anywhere in science that explains the apparent fact of a unique present moment that moves forward through time and acts as the irrevocable, impenetrable, undeniable boundary between what was and what will be.

In science, there's no specialness about any particular moment. No current instant tracks forward, converting future into past. All moments are equal. But in real life, once a moment passes through that singularity called now, it is forever a different kind of moment, having permanently become past. Is this an illusion?
