========================
What are called "cyberchromes" below are now called metaflowers. This is the old version of curiosity junction, and in this gallery you will find vintage metaflowers, from a much earlier time in their evolution. How do they compare to the current metaflowers?
========================
Many of the pictures at curiosity junction
were drawn by automatic software agents called cyberchrome painters. Cyberchrome painters are software programs written in a special language called Brain Description Language (BDL).
BDL programs are not explicitly written by a human -- instead, they are evolved through a process of selective breeding, something like the way humans might evolve new kinds of flowers, tropical fish, or fruit, by selectively mutating and cross-breeding the best ones available.
Only the very first cyberchrome painters were explicitly designed. Those first ever-so-simple tiny BDL brains have since grown and diversified into a huge variety of wonderful forms.
