software agents that draw art |
Why do cyberchrome painters draw beautiful art? Because the ones that don't are eliminated ruthlessly from the collection.
It's really simple. We make exact duplicates of the best cyberchrome painters we have. Then we let the computer make small, random changes (mutations) to the duplicates. We let the originals and duplicates do their things, drawing the cyberchromes in windows on the screen.
We look at all the paintings. Which ones are the most beautiful? We keep those and throw away the rest. Then we do it all over again!
Keep this up long enough, and pretty soon things get really interesting. Once we have a bunch of interesting variants, we use sexual recombination to mix and match the best traits from the top contenders.
