No moon tonight. A few stars show through the haze. In the west, the last daylight mixes with orange city light. Directly overhead, the sky is deep purple.

The iron rails settle as they radiate the day's heat into the sky. Crickets sing their love into the air. A bird cries as it flies overhead. A cat crosses the tracks and silently dives into the bushes. Despite the sounds of distant traffic, it's very still. There is something soothing about the energy up here.
